HiBeams Goes to NYC

June 27, 2017

This past weekend, HiBeams travelled to Queens, NY for the Zumiez Best Foot Forward skate competition. This was a great event to watch; we were able to experience even more of the skate culture that we had seen in Buffalo and meet more amazing people.

We attended the event in Corona Park which is where the Men in Black was filmed. It was interesting to see all the structures that were at the park including some statues from the Science Museum.

We saw many skaters giving their all in this competition, some of them as young as 10 years old. There were many talented skaters both young and old. We were able to talk with many these skaters and saw their passion and dedication.

We also had the chance to talk to some of the local Zumiez store managers. We learned a lot about who they are as skaters, and about the industry as a whole.

At the end of the day we found a local ramen shop and showed Tom what ramen really is. Then, we finished the day off at Astoria Skate Park where we spent a couple hours learning new tricks from a local skated named Rhon.

Congratulations to everyone who competed and to the winners of the competition. It was amazing seeing all the great tricks that were shown off during the competition. Stay tuned for a video of the trip and check out some photos of the event.

Until next time NYC thanks for all the fun times!
